Wild Butterfly

DSC_0503

A wild butterfly pauses to drink

Of sweet nectar on petals so pink.

Resplendent in sunlit gold, his wings,

He stays awhile to think.

*

Encompassing, a crisp breeze blows,

Winds of change whisper, he knows.

Free, must he soar where south winds sing,

For soon will arrive the first snow.
